COSL
Thank you to all the student nurse leaders and school chapter board members for attending the September 24, 2011 COSL event! I hope the meeting was informative and helpful for engaging your school chapter members, as well as for all of your leadership endeavors. Minnesota student nurses are truly amazing and each SNA school chapter will accomplish great and inspiring things this year.
Special thank you to Minnesota Nurses Association (MNA) Liaison, Linda Mash, for the event location, National Nurses United (NNU) President, Jean Ross, for an informative presentation about nurses and the Main Street Movement and 10’-11’ MSNA President, Stephanie Revermann, for an inspirational speech about her NSNA leadership experience.
What is COSL?
Council of Student Leaders (COSL) is an event to benefit Minnesota student nurse leaders and their Student Nurses Association (SNA) chapters. Hosted by the Minnesota Student Nurses Association’s (MSNA) President, the goal of COSL is to provide an informative and engaging session about leadership, which includes inspirational guest speakers. It is an event for networking and the content presented revolves around how to be a successful student nurse leaders and collectively, a SNA school chapter. Discussed are the National Student Nurses Association’s (NSNA) requirements for student nurse leadership and the requirements for chapter constituency status, along with school chapter bylaws, policies, and procedures. In addition, there is a thorough discussion about how to be successful with NSNA membership recruitment and ideas for encouraging SNA chapter involvement within a chapter’s community. Again, this networking event is valuable for student nurse leaders and their SNA school chapter leaders to meet and discuss with the MSNA executive board and professional nurses (guest speakers) how to have successful leadership.
